School of Dental Care Professionals

About SDCP

The School of Dental Care Professional (SDCP) offers two dental care professional (DCP) programs namely, BS Dental Hygiene and BS Dental Technology in – line with the requirements and guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. SDCP has produced more than 300 Dental Hygienists and Dental Technologists since 2013 when our first batches from these two programs were graduated from DUHS. Over the period of time, dentistry in DUHS has evolved from a “dentist – centric clinical practice” to a “team – based dental care” and realized the potential of these DCPs for a modern dental healthcare system and service provision.

Dow University of Health Sciences established School of Dental Care Professional (SDCP) in the year 2007. Initially, the school was offering 2 – year Diploma programs in Dental Hygiene and Technology under apprenticeship of Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS). Later, in 2010 the school was upgraded to offer 4 – year Bachelors Degree programs with the vision of transforming dentistry through the strategic integration of an auxiliary arm known as dental care professionals (DCPs) due to the growing mis-match between the dental workforce structure and public dental demands.
