The Standing Accessibility Committee of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) successfully organized an awareness session titled “Equally Human: Navigating Special Needs Through Religion, Law & Society” at Dow Medical College, DUHS.
The session was graced by Prof. Dr. Nazli Hossain, Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof. Dr. Saba Sohail, Principal, Dow Medical College, Dr. Ashar Afaq, Registrar, DUHS, and Dr. Asima Faisal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences and Director, IBHM, DUHS.
The event was led by Prof. Sadaf Zia, Professor of ENT and Chairperson, Standing Accessibility Committee, along with committee members Dr. Syed Farjad Sultan (Associate Professor of Anesthesiology), Dr. Zahra Nazim (Associate Professor-IBHM), Dr. Zoobia Ramzan (Associate Professor of Psychiatry), Mr. Azhar Ali Bhutto (Assistant Registrar), and Ms. Sohaima Sheikh (Manager Services).
The session featured distinguished speakers including Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon (Chairman, Pakistan Disabled Foundation), Mr. Tariq Memon (Advocate & Legal Expert), Dr. Muhammad Atif Aslam Rao (Religious Scholar), Dr. Anila Rahim (Assistant Professor, Dow Institute of Radiology, DUHS), and Dr. Mahnoor Hafeez (Senior Instructor & Consultant Radiologist, DUHS).
Through meaningful discussions on religious teachings, legal frameworks, and societal responsibilities, participants explored ways to promote dignity, accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. The session reinforced DUHS’s commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
