About the Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology at SDCP
BS DCP – Dental Hygiene program is a bachelor level 4 – year degree program. It is a taught program augmented with the hands – on practical in the primary operating domains of dental care. The program provides theoretical and technical hands – on practical training for the construction of these dental appliances to the students. Students learn these techniques in laboratory through demonstration on patient – based models and practical performance. The students are also given orientation of the clinically assessed patients in the dental clinics by allowing them to be able to assess tooth color / shade, mix, load and take dental impressions and process prosthesis trial. Practical laboratory work is emphasized in the courses to prepare the student for employment. The graduate of this program is known a Dental Technologist.

A Dental Technologist is a member of dental health team, who can provide services to the dentists by constructing for them a variety of appliances to repair, replace or re-position the natural teeth or their structure of patients under the instructions of a qualified dentist / dental surgeon.
