About the Central Animal House Facility
The central animal house facility is well-suited to house various Laboratory animal species from rodents to horses. There are more than 3000 rodents (NMRI mice, Wistar Rats, Guinea pigs, Rabbits) provided with proper housing condition 12-hour dark & light cycle, humidity 30-70% and feed & water ad libitum. Serpentarium is available for snake quarantine and 50 well-constructed horse stables available under the Basic Biological Manufacturing Unit to pursue horse immunization for the production of anti-snake venom sera.
Daily monitoring and record keeping of stock and breeding animals is maintained by qualified veterinarians, trained technical staff and animal attendants. The facility is designed to ensure all animals are housed in an exquisitely controlled environment including their breeding and maintenance with maximal protection against contamination and appropriate husbandry of experimental animals.
