Training the Trainers
In collaboration with the Old Age Shelter Home – ANMOL in Karachi, the School of Dental Care Professionals organized edentulous screening program in elderly group. The burden of edentulousness (without any dentition) was only around 5% which is close to the edentulousness level at national level in Pakistan. This screening program helped us prepare for lessening the burden of edentulousness which is predicted to rise by 9 – 10 % by 2030. The screening was carried out by the Dental Hygiene students with an intention to inform the Dental Technology students about appropriate solution to fabricate dentures that may be delivered at doorstep to these institutionalized old age group who are unable to visit the dental hospitals / clinics.
