Empowering Communities Through Clean Water
The 9th Hand Pump Initiative
The installation of the 9th water hand pump by the Community Service and Sustainability Society (CSSS), in collaboration with the Civics and Community Engagement Class, had a significant impact both quantitatively and qualitatively, aligning directly with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: “Clean Water and Sanitation.” Quantitatively, the project provided direct access to clean water for 11 families in Sanghar district, reducing their dependency on distant water sources and significantly lowering their exposure to waterborne diseases.
Qualitatively, the initiative improved the overall quality of life by enhancing health outcomes, saving time—especially for women and children— and fostering community well-being through a sustainable solution.
By ensuring the availability of safe water at the household level, the project exemplifies progress toward SDG 6, promoting sustainable water management practices in underserved regions and contributing to long-term public health and development.
