The Community Service & Sustainability Society (CSSS), Institute of Business and Health Management, Dow University of Health Sciences, organized the Elder Care Management Community Service Program on March 11, 2024, in collaboration with EduCast. The event was led by Mr. Abdullah Butt, Founder & CEO of EduCast, who shared his expertise on eldercare support and management.
The program was attended by DUHS students and employees, representing diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Participants were introduced to the pressing challenges faced by elderly individuals in Pakistan, including emotional neglect, health needs, and social isolation. The speaker emphasized compassion, dignity, and structured care systems as essential components of eldercare. Students and employees reflected that the session was both informative and eye-opening, giving them greater awareness of the responsibilities of younger generations toward the elderly.
Feedback from participants highlighted the significance of such initiatives, with many describing the session as “thought-provoking, inspiring, and necessary.” The event helped participants better understand the role of empathy, respect, and management skills in providing quality care to senior citizens. It also motivated students to think about community service beyond immediate needs, addressing the long-term sustainability of social support systems.
The impact of the Elder Care Program lies in its ability to sensitize the youth to the challenges of aging populations and to promote intergenerational solidarity. By fostering respect for the elderly and encouraging structured care practices, the event contributed to building a more compassionate and inclusive society.

In conclusion, the Elder Care Project made a strong impact by combining education with compassion. It not only raised awareness about eldercare but also encouraged DUHS students and employees to practice empathy and responsibility toward one of the most neglected groups in society.
