A hands-on DUHS CME accredited workshop was organized by the Department of Operative Dentistry, Dow Dental College, DUHS on 27th May 2025. This workshop was organized in collaboration with Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry. The facilitator of this workshop was HOD Operative Dentistry DDC, Prof. Dr. Arshad Hasan, while the co-facilitators were Dr. Javeria Ali Khan and Dr. Samia Ali.
Separated instrument removal is one of the most difficult skills in dentistry. Therefore, it attracted keen interest from the dental fraternity and the event was well attended, with registrations full well before time. The chief guest of the occasion, Principal DDC, Prof. Dr. Naresh Kumar, praised the effort in his opening speech. This was followed by the presentation of shields and certificates to the chief guest and organizers.
Next, Dr. Arshad delivered an engaging lecture on the topic which attracted a lot of interest and queries from the audience. After a brief refreshment break, the participants moved to the phantom head lab where three microscopes were arranged. On two of these, Dr. Javeria and Dr. Samia facilitated the participants on the initial steps of file removal, i.e., staging and exposure on plastic blocks. Meanwhile, at the third microscope, Dr. Arshad demonstrated file removal using a special loop device, the BTR Pen by Cerkamed Poland. This file removal device was used on specially developed plastic blocks created specifically for this workshop.
The workshop participants were extremely satisfied with the hands-on experience and thanked the faculty and leadership of Dow Dental College for providing this excellent learning opportunity in a congenial environment.
