On May 31, 2025, Sohail Rao, MD, MA, DPhil, Founder and Executive Director of the Emerging Leadership Academy (ELA) at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), delivered a compelling lecture titled “Humility at the Helm: Principles of Servant Leadership in Action.”
Drawing from both classical Islamic values and globally recognized leadership frameworks—particularly John Maxwell’s Five Levels of Leadership- Dr. Rao engaged participants in a powerful exploration of how servant leadership can shift organizational cultures, inspire trust, and produce lasting impact. He emphasized that true leadership is not about position or power, but about service, integrity, and the development of others.
The session challenged attendees to consider a transformative question: “What if servant leadership became the norm in Pakistan, not the exception?” Through real-world examples and reflective discussion, participants explored how humility, empathy, accountability, and ethical stewardship can reshape relationships, institutions, and national progress.
This session forms part of the Academy’s ongoing mission to cultivate a new generation of principled, purpose-driven leaders across the healthcare and academic sectors in Pakistan.
