Overall Feedback and Impact
The Guest Speaker Session on “Spiritual Journey of Ramadan” organized by the Community Service and Sustainability Society (CSSS), Institute of Business and Health Management, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), was a highly enriching and transformative experience. Held on March 20, 2024, the session reflected CSSS’s vision of enlightening youth, promoting inclusivity, and fostering peace and prosperity, while also aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals).
The session witnessed remarkable participation, with 138 registered participants comprising DUHS students, faculty members, and employees from across various departments and institutes. This diverse representation fostered an inclusive environment that encouraged both academic and spiritual dialogue, ensuring that the impact of the event was felt across the DUHS community.
The guest speaker, Mr. Shujauddin Sheikh (Director, The ILM Foundation), delivered a deeply insightful and engaging talk that combined Islamic teachings with contemporary perspectives. His address emphasized fasting, inner purification, and spiritual growth during Ramadan. His humility, intellectual depth, and ability to connect with the audience left a lasting impression on all present.
Feedback from participants reflected overwhelmingly positive responses. Attendees described the session as “excellent,” “spiritually awakening,” “eye-opening,” and “inspirational.” Many shared that the program provided peace of mind, renewed motivation for Ramadan, and practical guidance to strengthen their connection with Allah. Several students highlighted that the talk helped boost their Iman (faith) and inspired them to embrace a more meaningful and reflective lifestyle. A consistent recommendation was that such sessions should be conducted more frequently, given their relevance and positive impact.
From an impact perspective, the session achieved more than its immediate objective of imparting knowledge. It sparked a collective reflection among participants, inspiring them to adopt sincerity in worship and carry forward the lessons of Ramadan throughout the year. The interactive atmosphere also fostered unity among students and employees, bridging academic and professional boundaries, and reinforcing the shared values of community, inclusivity, and personal growth.
In conclusion, the session was a resounding success in terms of participation, organization, and outcomes. By engaging 138 members of the DUHS community, it not only deepened spiritual awareness but also strengthened collective bonds across students and employees. The event reaffirmed CSSS’s role as a platform for holistic learning, nurturing both intellectual and spiritual development, and setting a strong foundation for similar impactful initiatives in the future.
