Description of GYM Club Cleaning Drive (Phase-1)
- Paper Recycling: Reusing Discarded Papers and Converting it into Posters to Spread Awareness on Waste Management, Cleanliness, Energy and Water Conservation (SDG12)
The Green Youth Movement Club collected the discarded papers from the Faculty & Administrative staff of IBHM. These papers were used for “tagging’’ and posting awareness taglines on cleanliness, energy conservation & water conservation. The water conservation tag was pasted on the washroom wall near the tap water dispenser. The energy related tag was pasted above the electronic switch board whereas tag on cleanliness awareness was also pasted in each of the IBHM halls.
The posters featured an impactful message which’ll somehow ignite the spirits of maintaining and sustaining a clean environment and build it a lifelong habit.
Some of the taglines were:
- Cleanliness:
Live Life Cleaner. Make EARTH Greener
- Energy Conservation:
THINK GREEN!
If you are last one to leave, please switch off all the appliances
- Water Conservation
It takes a lot of Blue, to stay Green
Be Green like a pro, by conserving H2O
- Awareness Session on Waste Management to Janitorial Staff of IBHM, SPH, IMT & ION at IBHM-DUHS (SDG 13 & 15)
The session was conducted by Ms. Yasmeen, Coordinator Green Youth Movement Club. The main objective of conducting the session was to equip each janitorial staff with the ins and outs of waste. They were provided with complete guidelines on waste reduction and its disposal which subsequently sparked their interest in the activities. Green and Blue Color codes were used to segregate the recycling (Green) & non-recyclable (Blue) wastes.
Suggestion by Janitorial Staff: Placements of water buckets in the washroom for usage when there’s unavailability of water.
- Green & Blue Color coding on Lid of dustbin to segregate IBHM waste into recyclable and non-recyclable (SDG 13 & 15)
The Green color code on the lid of the dustbin shows the recyclable waste such as paper and plastic bottles whereas Blue color code on the lid of the dustbin indicates the non-recyclable waste such as wet waste, plastic bags, Styrofoam, foods & liquids etc.
- Awareness Session on Maintaining Clean & Green Environment, Water & Energy Conservation and Waste Management (SDG 6 & 7)
The Green Youth Movement Club conducted short awareness sessions of 15-20 minutes in each class of BBA & MBA. The motive was not only to spread awareness but also to alter the lifestyle of students and subsequently make them realize how their little efforts can make a big Environmental Impact!
